From singing in the shower, to singing Canberra’s praises, Lily Lu is a highly valued member of the Nexis team. As one of our Intermediate Accountants, Lily deals with a wide variety of work on a day to day basis including individual tax returns, company, trust and partnership matters, and providing general tax advice to our clients. She joined Nexis in 2017 and says her best accounting tip is to try and organise tax documents regularly. She says if you make your tax affairs a habit, they can be fun and interesting when you’re on top of it.
So, what does Lily get up to when she’s not helping our clients? Well, singing in the shower for one. We chatted to her to find out what else:
Where is your favourite place in the world?
Canberra is my favourite. Canberra is peaceful, lovely and unique. It is a quiet town with friendly locals yet is also an exciting modern city with various festivals and events.
What are you passionate about?
My passion is singing, and I love practicing in the shower. It is very relaxing and inspiring.
What’s the last book you read?
A textbook for Chartered Tax Advisors.
What is the best meal you’ve ever had?
One in a local restaurant downstairs at my mum’s place in Shanghai this February. It’s a taste of home: dumplings, more dumplings and never enough dumplings!
If you could visit anywhere in the world you’ve never been, where would you go?
Japan, as it’s a place full of delicious food, unique culture and breathtaking natural beauty.
What is your favourite family tradition?
Chinese New Year. Every year the whole family stays together and plays card games day and night and we eat lots of food.
