For Business
August 13, 2021

At Nexis, we understand that restrictions such as reduced capacity, reduced staff and temporary closures affect business owners in the ACT and the region. We are here to answer any of your accounting, bookkeeping and business advisory questions, starting with what kind of support businesses will have access to in the coming weeks following the ACT going into lockdown on the 12th of August 2021. The COVID-19 Disaster Payments will be available to certain individuals and businesses. We will be keeping clients informed on what resources will be available in the coming days, however here is what we know so far:

COVID-19 disaster payments for individuals

  • $750 and 450 depending on hours lost, same as NSW rules
  • $750 per week for > 20 hours work lost
  • $450 per week for 8-20 hours work lost

Business support grant

  • Provides lump sum $3,000 payment to businesses and $1,000 to sole traders who have experienced a 30% reduction in turnover during the week or lockdown period.

Claims will open on the 20th of August 2021. While we cannot action any claims for clients until this date, we will be preparing for this as more rules, changes and eligibility requirements become known in the coming days. You can find more information here and the breakdown of the payments here. Do not hesitate to contact our friendly staff if you have any questions.
