Senior Accountant
Location: Canberra and Brisbane
Job status: Full-time
The Role
Providing taxation, accounting & business compliance services for a variety of clients of varying size, industry, and entity type. This role includes, but is not limited to, preparation of Income Tax Returns, Fringe Benefit Tax Returns, Interpretation of Taxation Law and Accounting Standards, Special Purpose Financial Statements, Business Performance Analysis, Special Purpose and Acquittal Reporting for Charities and Not-for-Profits, Activity Statements, and liaising with clients and external stakeholders.

About You
As a senior accountant you will have an excellent level of technical competence and a strong work ethic; understanding that work needs to be completed accurately, efficiently, and on time. You will work well in a team, be a great communicator, and pride yourself on your organisational skills and attention to detail.
You will also have the following:
- Minimum 4 years accounting experience in business services;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to build great rapport with staff and clients alike;
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure and ability to adhere to externally driven deadlines (by the ATO), and internally driven deadlines (by stakeholders);
- Highly motivated individual with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision, problem solve, and take initiative;
- Ability to prioritise your work given time and budget deadlines;
- Ability to demonstrate ownership of your duties and client tasks, exhibiting a high level of attention to detail and accuracy and, crucially, an ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks;
- Experience with or exposure to the direct involvement in the affairs of clients;
- Passion for growth and learning, ability and/or open-mindedness to grow their technical and soft skills as well as mentor younger/more junior staff
- Technical skills:
- Strong knowledge of Australian Income tax laws and legislations
- Experience with the preparation of financial statements and income tax returns for individuals, companies, trusts, and partnerships, Div7A issues, FBT, GST, and CGT
- Experience with Xero or an understanding of the software, including the ability to prepare financial statements, as well as assist our clients using Xero.
- Experience with SMSFs is favourable but not essential – ability to prepare financial statements and tax returns for Self-Managed Superannuation Funds
- Proficient in Microsoft office suite
- Qualification in Accounting
- CA Qualified, or near completion your CA program

Client Team Administrator
Location: Canberra
Job status: Full-time
This role is part of the Client Delivery Team (CDT) consisting of CTAs, the CDM and EAs. The CTAs provide key administrative support for two directors and four busy Nexis Accountancy and bookkeeping teams.
A key deliverable is the timely delivery of the directors and client teams’ daily tasks that support client engagements and that play a key role in the firm’s essential compliance projects.
Daily duties range from ensuring tax returns are lodged on time to the ATO, through to managing queries from customers and acting as an internal resource to ensuing that workflow is running smoothly.
The role has multiple client contact duties and deals directly with external agencies such as the ATO, with many tasks directly chargeable to clients.

About you
